History: Stephen McCune Upholstery is the oldest continuously operated shop in Texas. In 1923, Mr. McCune started a small shop moved in the early 30's to a strip of land between the San Antonio River and an acequia that fed the Alamo. In 1975, the old man was ready to retire and handed to business over to Stephen. Stephen hired some old timers and started the refinishing business back up after a twenty-year hiatus. Today, the shop is well known among those desiring quality furniture, durable fabrics, and excellent craftsmanship. Services have expanded to include the coastal areas around Corpus Christi, resort communities, and Hill Country ranches. If you have visited some of the finer homes around San Antonio, there is a good chance you have seen some of Stephen McCune Upholstery's quality work.
